Tie Dye!
Today we are hosting Lucy’s 8th birthday party with a small group of girls. Lucy requested 2 things: Tie Dye and a Sleep Under. Done. Here’ s the low-down on the whole shebang…
TIE DYING BIRTHDAY PARTY
I bought this book on a whim a long time ago (like almost 15-20 years ago 😁 ) and refer to it every spring once my summer fever starts to set in. It is what sparked the tie dye idea for both Lucy and me. Check it out for other fun summer ideas. Honestly, the ideas in here are quite simple, but it is nice to have the refresher every time the new season rolls around.
I also quickly referenced a post I remembered loving from Esther of Babyccino. She had done a Shibori Tie Dye Party for her daughter’s 8th birthday. Esther had a lot of fun ideas and her post helped me wrap my head around the whole process and how to get myself prepared! Here’s a look at Esther’s trial…
After researching the process and guessing what a few 8 year olds would be willing to take on, I decided to buy this tie dying kit. It seems easy enough, set-up and clean up don’t seem like they will kill us and how fun the girls will get to choose all different colors, etc! Can’t wait.
A close friend had the idea to tie dye pillow cases in sticking with the “sleep under” theme, so I found these 100% cotton, inexpensive pillow cases at Walmart.
I also thought it would be fun for the girls to have something to tie dye that they can wear, so I ordered these white cotton headbands as well. They are also inexpensive and easy to find. Scrunchies would also be super fun!
Another idea is to have the girls tie dye a piece of clothing. We had pinned a few favorites from Primary.com and this was the one piece I thought could be cute…
As an bonus to the girls “goodie bags” Lucy picked out these sleep masks…
