Bitsy x Merrimane
Back in June we shared Merrimane with you - a new children’s outerwear company that we had fallen in love with. Since Merrimane’s first round of production arrived in August, Bitsy had the opportunity to style them on Lucy + Greer for the upcoming fall/winter seasons! The love affair continues. We had a ball and hope you get inspired to not only snag a Merrimane jacket for your little ones before the colder weather sets in, but to also let your little one rock their winter jacket in their own little style.
Jasmine was kind enough to let us choose our color and style jacket to play with so we went with the Blossom jacket in Cream (tough decision because the Magenta is gorgeous!). Here are some snaps from our styling shoots. We CANNOT wait for these jackets to be put into real-life action when the cooler temps start to settle in…
In Lucy’s 1st look we paired a bit of funky with the classic/sweetness of the Bloom jacket. Lucy is age 7, so we wanted to show her as age-appropriate rocking her Adidas Stan-Smiths, sunnies + sporty knee-high socks.
In her 2nd look we went for full-on comfort and sport. Let them be little. This outfit is great for a fall weekend away - in the car or on the soccer field!
Lucy’s 3rd look was inspired by what we are seeing from some of our favorite Euro brands. Her hair bow keeps her 7, but the stepped-up sneakers and jumper pattern help her push a little older. This is the age that it starts to matter, right?!
Greer’s 1st look was also inspired by our fave Euro brands the innocence of classic children’s wear. I feel like if it ain’t broke, dont fix it! Merrimane’s Bloom jacket pairs so nicely from styles from long ago that have cycled back into our modern styling for munchkins.
G’s 2nd look shows off her sassiness. Enough said. See how well this jacket transitions?!
In Greer’s 3rd look she is stepping up the funk on the classic school girl look. I wore a uniform my whole academic career (minus college lol), so to be able to style this plaid with something sweet and add the funk - just my sweet spot!
We pulled together a 4th look for Greer because we really wanted to showcase this jacket the way it will probably look the most. Playful + sporty. But do you see how much sweetness the Bloom adds to prove Greer’s age and whereabouts?!
What we love most about the Merrimane brand is that they are extremely versatile. The designer and owner (and a friend!), Jasmine, is a mom herself who really takes care to put all of the appropriate “mom touches” in to the pieces she designs. This jacket really can act as your child’s one-and-only for the colder weather! Styling was easy because the jacket can be worn with different looks for so many different occasions - school, church, playgrounds, weekend-wear. As you can see from our photo shoot - we were able to stick to Bitsy’s aesthetic because of this brand’s versatility and functionality.
Another good tid-bit - Lucy and Greer both rocked their jackets with just a t-shirt underneath for those somewhat chilly New England fall days. We also snuck a sweatshirt and sweater underneath for some looks to anticipate when the cold really starts to set in and they need those extra layers. Merrimane’s sizing allows for this and the girls were comfortable in every option. You really cant go wrong with their design and construction!
And here they are just being my kids! And sisters. And a 7 year old and a 4 year old!
HAPPY STYLING!
