Playdate!

Children's playdates

What happens when 2 creative blogging mamas get their itty bitties together for a play date?! AWESOME-NESS!

We were recently visiting Boston and had the opportunity to hook up with Surahbi of Third Eye Chic and her two sweet-cheeked daughters. Bitsy is all about finding creativity and after having met Surahbi through Bitsy it made perfect sense to get our little ones together for a city playdate! Surahbi is a talented photographer that started blogging about her fashion and her children’s fashion for similar reasons to me. We share a lot of similarities yet feed off of our differences.

If you ever find yourself in Boston (or live there!), definitely reach out to Surahbi of Third Eye Chic Studio to get some memories photographed. She is amazing! And if you want to get acquainted with her aesthetic and talent, head to her BLOG!

It was really neat to see how all 4 of our munchkins interacted with their own little style. They each own their aesthetics so completely. 2 creative mamas + 4 creative kiddos = total inspiration. After leaving Frieda Garcia Park in the South End of Boston we walked away with some great photos, new friendships and a ton of inspiration. One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about Bitsy are the connections I’ve made with other passionate folks. It fuels me, it fuels the inspiration behind Bitsy. Getting myself and my aesthetic out there has led me down such a cool path. I can’t wait for more!!

Come along on our Boston playdate below…We hope you get excited, inspired, creative…

CINCO de MACKIE!

Say what?!

You heard us. Cinco de Mayo is almost here so we’re celebrating with The Mackie Dress. We’ve got the outfit for your girlies (and mamas, too, if you so desire!) for your fiesta! Mackie is a company that designs hand-embroidered, one-of-a-kind dresses for little girls and woman. Their signature styles are created by craftswomen in several towns in the Puebla region of Mexico. They are bright, light-weight, easy and funky. Definitely an item you want in their/your wardrobe mix this spring/summer!

We took a few shots of the girls in their Mackies on our last beach adventure to give you an idea of the silhouette, colors, fun, etc. Take a peak!

brick + mortar

Lucy (+ Greer hee, hee) love to play “retail shop”. So, for Christmas we thought it only fitting to make them their very own Bitsy brick + mortar. A place to sell a flavor of what they wish to their itsy bitsy customers. Oh what fun! We had a TON of fun creating it and want to share it with you! One of our Grammies made the beautiful curtain above the shop “window”. It is a vintage fabric that was used in her baby’s bedrooms years ago. Adding just the right amount of special-ness!

Please excuse the organic feel of our “shoot”. It was an icky day outside, so we decided to throw up a sheet and let the girls have some playtime! We hope the cuteness of L + G in their shop steal your attention.

As you can see, the shop has been quite busy recently! It is “closed” today for a much needed holiday…

back to basics

FINAL BLOG Back to Basics

We. Can’t. Get. Enough.

It is that simple. And Primary.com’s concept is that simple as well. Check it out…

As a parent you are going to say ‘PHEW!’. You may even do a little dance. Heck, you may even want to throw in a “WHOOP WHOOP!”. Primary.com is a company that offers “awesome basics for kids at reasonable prices”. True story. Their clothing is made out of soft, but sturdy fabrics. The colors they offer are simple, yet playful (so they can be paired with anything while also adding a pop of fizz to a look). Quality, simplicity and price are part of their core value proposition. The company was resurrected from 2 moms (Galyn + Christina) with a .com background wanting simple, soft and well-priced kids clothing without graphics and logos all over them (hallelujah!). They state on their site that “in our mother’s day if you couldn’t find what you were looking for, you made it yourself. So, that’s what we did”. Now this is a statement BITSY applauds! Beautifully uncomplicated as they put it – yes, that is how us parents like it. Well done!!

We scooped up a few pieces to test them out and style them (BITSY style – photograph above). Needless to say, we have been very happy with each item. The cotton is super soft and washes perfectly. The stitching is great and the fit is spot on. As we styled (so much fun – the possibilities were endless!) and wore these pieces we couldn’t help but think to keep Primary.com in mind for other purposes as well – think basics for making personalized tees for sports teams, party favors, art projects etc. And, we are definitely going to be hitting this up for back-to-school wear! The prices are so great, you can grab a few of each piece to stock up!

As you can see, they are very thoughtful over at Primary.com. And just when we didn’t think it could get any better it just did. They’ve offered BITSY readers a 25% discount + free shipping off your first purchase as a thank you. Be sure to type in promotional code BITSYSTYLE at checkout.

Welcome to your new “go-to” – PRIMARY.COM.

(They just introduced a new piece – The Baby Romper – so you’ll have to check that out for us!)

bitsy favorite for the itsy…HERITAGE ROWS!

It doesn’t get much sweeter than this.

Heritage Rows is a new delicious hair bow company on the children’s fashion scene. Bitsy is lucky enough to know this brand well and we are ready to share them with our beloved readers! Kaitlin, the founder + creator of Heritage Rows, is incredibly creative, inspirational and gifted. You need to know her, you need to follow her (HERE + HERE) because we promise she will inspire you in every aspect of your life. Kaitlin has always had an ability to visualize a unique idea and use her hands to bring it to life. We are elated that she has chosen to put her creative energy into something that everyone can enjoy + appreciate. HR is a finely, hand-crafted children’s hair bow company to meet the needs of those who search for and appreciate detailed, from-the-heart product. Classic, hip, special, happy, cool, beautiful, playful – all words that come to mind when we see a Heritage Rows bow on a child. Each bow is specially handmade with remarkable ribbons. Kaitlin also makes sure they will stand the test of time (especially babies + toddlers!) – each of the ends are heat sealed to ensure they will last a long time. BITSY has had the pleasure of testing them out and they have exceeded all of our expectations! We continue to get stopped when one is styled a-top our little’s heads. You will be seeing a lot of them in upcoming features because we really can’t get enough!

Some of Bitsy’s top picks are pictured above, but Heritage Rows offers a wealth of colors for your littles’ wardrobe. The collection will frequently add new colors and patterns, so just another reason to follow HR. We warn you – deciding which bows to purchase is going to be difficult. It gets addicting and super fun because you will end up wanting ALL of them! The best part of HR is that any one of the bows you choose can be incorporated into a tiny person’s ensemble.
