We love PLAYTIME New York!

If you can believe it, it is was time to preview the children’s wear 2017 spring/summer collections at PLAYTIME NEW YORK this week. Bitsy hit the scene eager to meet up with old friends and have them show us their new tricks as well as introduce ourselves to new friends (new finds are a favorite jam!). We left with a FRENZY of excitement…spring/summer 2017 is going to be A-MAZING. Just you wait!

Even though these pieces + collections will not launch until 2017, we’ve got a Bitsy preview of the show for you below. It was difficult to pick favorites since the entire Playtime show inspired the heck out of us, but we think you will appreciate the pieces that really caught our eye. Artistic, thoughtful + colorful fabrics, flouncy, layered + easy silhouettes, rompers, sporty styles, a touch on 70s classics, etc – all creations scream summer vacation! We’ll have full stories + collections in the late winter and early spring 2017, so stay tuned for sure. But for now, enjoy a flavor of what we were able to experience this past weekend…

bitsy favorite for the itsy…LA COQUETA!

Bitsy is all about hand-me-downs, classic pieces with an updated look – this we know. Well, if there were ever a brand to match Bitsy’s aesthetic and style aspirations, La Coqueta would be it. We are naturally almost always drawn to Spanish-made children’s wear and you’ll see why after sifting through La Coqueta’s collection and over-all style. This brand’s chic twist on the traditional has us wanting every single piece!

La Coqueta resides in North London, but every piece is “proudly made in Spain”. And, lucky for us, the owner (mother of 5, ehhh emmm) offers all of her exquisite creations on La Coqueta’s e-commerce site, so cheers to those of us across the pond. We can get some goodness for our little ones as well!

Everything about this brand makes us content. You will truly appreciate the beautiful details, subtle twists and European touches. As usual, we’ve picked a few looks that catch our eye, but the whole brand truly catches our eye! All of these looks and many others can be found on their site (link provided below!).

bitsy favorite for the itsy…MIMII KIDS!

MimiiKids on Etsy Baby Boy Overalls, $32-

MimiiKids on Etsy GIrls Overalls, $42-

This one you need to know. And hold in your back pocket.

Meet Mimii Kids.

Not only are the styles out-of-this-world adorable, but each piece is made so finely. The styles will have you feeling nostalgic as they all possess a vintage flair. We bought Lucy this dress last year and really adore it. The construction of Mimii Kids’ clothing is acceptional and we think the price point is right for the prize you pick up. We have even washed the dress in our washing machines (line dry) and it comes out so beautifully! Bitsy is loving what they’ve introduced this season for boys + girls – traditional pieces with a modern touch. Easy to pair with anything trendy or classic. Any piece from this collection will fit in well with your child’s wardrobe to add a little something extra special.

For all styles:

bitsy favorite for the itsy…HERITAGE ROWS!

It doesn’t get much sweeter than this.

Heritage Rows is a new delicious hair bow company on the children’s fashion scene. Bitsy is lucky enough to know this brand well and we are ready to share them with our beloved readers! Kaitlin, the founder + creator of Heritage Rows, is incredibly creative, inspirational and gifted. You need to know her, you need to follow her (HERE + HERE) because we promise she will inspire you in every aspect of your life. Kaitlin has always had an ability to visualize a unique idea and use her hands to bring it to life. We are elated that she has chosen to put her creative energy into something that everyone can enjoy + appreciate. HR is a finely, hand-crafted children’s hair bow company to meet the needs of those who search for and appreciate detailed, from-the-heart product. Classic, hip, special, happy, cool, beautiful, playful – all words that come to mind when we see a Heritage Rows bow on a child. Each bow is specially handmade with remarkable ribbons. Kaitlin also makes sure they will stand the test of time (especially babies + toddlers!) – each of the ends are heat sealed to ensure they will last a long time. BITSY has had the pleasure of testing them out and they have exceeded all of our expectations! We continue to get stopped when one is styled a-top our little’s heads. You will be seeing a lot of them in upcoming features because we really can’t get enough!

Some of Bitsy’s top picks are pictured above, but Heritage Rows offers a wealth of colors for your littles’ wardrobe. The collection will frequently add new colors and patterns, so just another reason to follow HR. We warn you – deciding which bows to purchase is going to be difficult. It gets addicting and super fun because you will end up wanting ALL of them! The best part of HR is that any one of the bows you choose can be incorporated into a tiny person’s ensemble.

bitsy favorite for the itsy…MISHA + PUFF!

I don’t know about you, but this is what we want to be wearing since these colder temps have started to hit! Misha + Puff, a children’s knitwear brand, really got it right. They bring us back to our handmade family knit gifts. Those pieces that can’t be replaced, are worthy of a thousand compliments and can be handed down through the generations. Their pieces each have a vintage-y feel, but their choice of colors and patterns are updated and can be styled in a classic and modern way. Plus, nothing beats their warmth, especially in this frigid weather.

This is our favorite part – each piece is designed in the US by Anna Wallack. They are then hand made in Peru where the women who knit them are given opportunities to support their families through working from home or at a knitting center that provides meals and childcare. And when you receive your item you will find the name of each knitter on the hang tag. Personalization to make your heirloom piece that much more special…bravo!

Misha + Puff’s winter collection was inspired by the New England seaside and landscape. Near and dear to Bitsy’s heart, of course, especially as we head into the Holiday season in New England. This collection is constructed with soft merino wool or alpaca. The Peruvian detailing is exceptional – pom poms, popcorn and zig zag designs that are timeless. Honestly, when we went to pick our favorite pieces to feature in this post we could not decide…so we went with a generous sampling. But to get your hands on your own picks and see even more of this special collection, head to

bitsy favorite for the itsy…ZIMMERMAN SHOES!

This one really makes us happy.

We’re bursting with excitement, ready to share Zimmerman Shoes!

Zimmerman Shoes, an American children’s shoe manufacturer, stole Bitsy’s heart not too long ago. Always in search of the perfect shoe for the minis (that won’t break the bank) we came across Zimmerman and fell deeply, madly in love. We’re addicted and asked them to show us their ways. As if their product wasn’t enough to capture our hearts, the story behind the company really won us over.

Zimmerman Shoes is owned and operated by two “goofball” (their word, not ours!) sisters, Audrey + Amelia. They created the company to honor their shoe-making heritage (their great-grandfather Milo bought Kepner Scott, a children’s shoe manufacturing facility in 1962 as a retirement project. He then turned the failing company around in just two years by discovering a lighter, more flexible sole for children’s shoes. Hallelujah, thank you Milo!! Kepner Scott is presently the oldest children’s shoe manufacturing company in the country and is still run by Audrey + Amelia’s third-generation shoe-maker Dad and Aunt.). Audrey + Amelia pour their passion into Zimmerman Shoes daily and boy does it show. They have been lucky to “grow up in the business” and to this day their Dad and Aunt act as mentors and consultants to Zimmerman. Zimmerman Shoes’ story is just too good not to share. After having the privilege of getting to know Audrey + Amelia and everything Zimmerman Shoes, Bitsy wants to be a part of their family and think you will as well!

As for the shoes – we feel they speak for themselves. Classic with a subtle modern twist (or as they put it, “Heritage footwear for modern kids”), Zimmermans are an absolute must have addition to your peanut’s closet. Audrey + Amelia have updated styles from the 1960s and 1970s with fresh colors and new leathers. Fit, form and flexibility are a main focus so your little one will be able to conquer their adventures. Lucy will be sporting the ever-so-delicate 1987 Scalloped Mary Jane (pictured below) this fall and winter. Stay tuned because you will be seeing a lot them in the upcoming seasons on Bitsy! After all, Zimmerman Shoes have walked the catwalks of Kids Fashion Week – we had to get ourselves a piece :).

Audrey, Amelia + Co. embody modern cool while sticking to their timeless roots. To us, this is what it means to have it all. A family-operated, American company with heart + “sole” (tee hee) and an incredible product. Right on, right on!

As we said earlier, we’re addicted. Take a peek below at Bitsy’s picks from their fall 2015 collection. For more product and information visit their site – ZIMMERMAN SHOES. There is lots more to learn about this fabulous company + collection!

Here is their nephew Milo (oh so delicious!) in their Stevie sandal:

bitsy favorite for the itsy…FLEUR + DOT!

Fleur + Dot

Get ready to be brought back. Here’s to classic silhouettes, beautiful details and special pieces to be handed down.

Please let us introduce you to Fleur + Dot. (Maybe we should warn you that there is a major lovefest going on here). Bitsy was lucky enough to shoot a few snippets from their current collection on two of our favorite little ladies. (Don’t worry – they have stunning creations for boys, too!). Head on over to their site to scope out the entire line (link below). But while you are here, check out what Bitsy put together for our photo shoot. This is how we would style them…

There are not enough words to illustrate the perfect-ness of this collection – we think the pieces say it all. The vintage style details (short puff sleeves, snap pearl buttons, peter pan collars, the fabrics…) really capture the honest simplicity that children rock. Or as Fleur + Dot puts it, “Handmade Childhoods”.

sealed with a kiss…and a bow, of course

Let’s be honest – accessories say it all. They seal the deal. They make things official.

Bitsy is crazy for bows – and do we have the bows for you! These bows will have you rocking around your Christmas tree…

The company was started by an uber creative mom with a passion for all things classic, beautiful + fun. Kaitlin channels her great taste + passion to her hands and in turn creates stunning product. Blank Canvas’ bows are the perfect accessory – especially for this time of year.

shake your booties

All of a sudden you have a walker on your hands and no shoes! I remember calling my mom and saying ‘HELP! Where do I look?!’. Luckily my mom had a nice little tradition to take every grandchild for his or her first “real” pair of shoes. So, we made a day of it and headed down to Little Eric (in Greenwich, CT) to get Lu’s little tootsies sized. She tried on a ton of different “walkers” and we had a ball.  Of course, I did not want to sacrifice her look so I drove myself nuts looking for the most perfect pair. I found a beautiful off-white patent mary jane that looked great with over-alls, but were also special enough for her dresses, the holidays, etc. If you don’t have a great children’s shoe store nearby and are at the mercy of the Internet, above are a few adorable, classic and smart styles (worthy of bronzing).
