My daughter’s favorite color is blue – Has been ever since she turned one. Not sure if she saw it somewhere or on someone/something and got hooked, or if her love for Thomas the Train really sucked her in? Either way, I love how she is so definitive about the color blue. I have to say, the kid’s got something here…there are so many beautiful shades of blue!

So, today I shower you in BLUE! As usual, there’s a mix of boy + girl choices, but some can be unisex for sure.

Have fun!

bitsy favorite for the itsy…LINDSEY BERNS

I’ve been doing a lot of fun research for Bitsy and through my travels have come across some really awesome, different collections from designers that have amazing backgrounds and a really strong passion for dressing children. This passion draws me in so quickly and just captures me – I get lost in the excitement of their collections and the reasons behind their creations. It is so neat to find people that share the same excitement as I do for dressing the itsy bitsy. Of course, my purpose is to share what I find with you, my readers. So, welcome to Bitsy’s new series “bitsy favorite for the itsy”. Every time you see this title you will know that I will be introducing you to an amazing designer and their collection/s.

Lindsey Berns was one of the first designers I came across in my Bitsy adventure. What really drew me in to her aesthetic is her ultimate vision (which echos through her creations) to create a look that is neither in nor out of style – just classic and timeless. This is how I try to dress my daughter and myself. I love the classics, but also like to move with time and trend, which inevitably help create a style that we can call our own. In Lindsey’s fall/winter 2013 collection she hit up charm and artistic expression to create individual pieces of art – Super playful pieces that can be paired with high top sneaks or even delicate ballet slippers. She really hit the nail on the head.

In a few weeks we will get to see Lindsey’s spring/summer 2014 line that was inspired by a completely different theme than last season’s collection. Get excited. In Lindsey’s words, “for spring, think airy, feminine pastels”.  I feel like a little kid on Christmas eve awaiting its arrival! Stay tuned. In the meantime, I shared a sampling of her very popular fall/winter 2013 collection below to give you an idea of her art work…

sing (+ dress!) yourself happy…Brooklyn style

in-spi-ra-tion – noun.

or feel something, especially to do

something creative

I am always looking for inspiration – whether it be in someone else’s style, a new funky color, food or music I try to notice what makes me tick and note it away for safe keeping. You never know when you’re going to need a little inspiration. Lucky for me, we took Lucy to see THE POP UPS in concert on Monday. After the show my insides were bursting with inspiration! I would definitely consider us a musical family – my husband plays guitar among other instruments and we all just really appreciate what music does to us and how it inspires mostly everyone around us. That being said, after the show we were all feeling very tickled with inspiration!

For those of you that don’t know The Pop Ups, you have to check them out! They are a Brooklyn-based, Grammy nominated(!) musical duo that creates funky children’s songs that (believe me) even parents want to jam out to. They instantly grab their audiences attention by wildly performing their music using cardboard props, hand-painted sets and a colorful cast of original puppets. At our show they even threw out big + colorful beach balls in the audience so kids could ping them to one another. Just really fun stuff. Check them out here – THE POP UPS – to learn more and see when they may be rocking a house near you soon!

Here they are getting down to business…

The Pop Ups in Action

Since I had so much inspiration in my bones, I also hit up some fun Brooklyn-based children’s designers + web shops to see what the hipsters are up to. Check out these adorable finds (there is SO much more to share…stay tuned!)…

Last year we bought Lucy an amazing pair of wayfarer shades in sorbet orange with a tiny, subtle floral print on the sides (pictured in my first post – “a not so bitsy love for style“). Lu still rocks them and actually keeps them on! We love them so much that we gave different color wayfarers as a party favor for Lulu’s 2nd birthday beach bash last July.

they’re comin’ to America…

Bitsy is excited to introduce you to three creative, unique + cutting-edge Scandinavian children’s wear designers that are recently making a name for themselves in America.  These three brands (listed below with links to their websites for a tiny taste of their aesthetic – the best is yet to come, believe me!) are very well established and highly regarded in Europe. Since the recent “Nordic Cool” trend in the States, Scandinavian + Nordic fashion designs are beginning to get noticed more and more around this neck of the woods. These three high quality brands are known to be fashionable yet practical, comfortable yet fun designs for children. Here’s the cherry on top –  they each use eco-friendly cotton, bamboo, soft merino + alpaca wool fabrics for their adorable creations (cozy!). How exciting for us that they are spreading their yummy-ness abroad!

Enjoy a sample of each designer’s current story + looks as well as a sneak peek of Milibe + Christina Rohde’s spring/summer 2014 collections…

and a hug around the neck

Check out these absolute delicious infinity scarves for your mini-me! Okay, I can’t take credit for this adorable find. My sister, Meredith, has cool pouring out of her and always seems to come across awesome, unique pieces such as these. I’ve already ordered one of each for Lulu. There are additional fun patterns and solid options as well. They also come in women’s sizes so you and your peanut can match.  I love how they can’t just slip off of a little neck and get lost – there is so much paraphernalia to worry about in the winter (for ourselves and our kiddies!). Bundle Up Buddies will keep them warm in the winter and add a fun accessory to their outfits throughout the rest of the year.

Bundle Up Buddy, cotton $12-, flannel $14-

This little model definitely makes the scarves look that much cuter, huh?!
